Matchroom Boxing USA Announces November 17 Card In Kansas
Matchroom Boxing USA’s next boxing card is headed to Kansas.
The boxing company announced a card taking place at the Kansas Star Arena on November 17 and it will be streamed on the DAZN platform. No main event fight was announced, but a number of fights were announced.
The first, and only world title fight thus far, is Claressa Shields’ first unified WBA and IBF women’s middleweight title defense. Shields will defend her titles against former super middleweight title challenger Hannah Rankin. Shields was supposed to fight WBO and WBC champion Christina Hammer to crown an undisputed women’s middleweight champion, but Hammer withdrew from the fight due to a medical condition that will prevent her from fighting until March 2019.
Another fight announced on the card was a bout between former world champion Brandon Rios and Ramon Alvarez. Alvarez is the older brother of Canelo Alvarez and sports a 27-6-3 record as a pro, having previously won the NABF and IBF North American junior middleweight titles.
The third fight announced was a middleweight bout between Luis Arias and Gabriel Rosado. Rosado is aiming to get back to the top of the division to challenge for a world title for the third time in his career while Arias is recovering from his first pro loss in November 2017 against Daniel Jacobs.
The initial press release also announced that Jarrell Miller, Ricky Burns, Anthony Sims Jr. and Nico Hernandez among others were also competing on the card. Jarrell Miller will be facing Bogdan Dinu. No opponents for Sims, Burns and Hernandez were announced at the time.
