Matchroom Boxing And DAZN Signs Long-term Deal With Italian Promotion OPI Since 82
Matchroom Boxing has been expanding its reach all over the globe and now it is set to make a strong presence in Italy.
It was announced that Matchroom Boxing, OPI Since 82, Italy’s premier boxing promoter, and the DAZN streaming service has agreed to an eight-year partnership. The deal will have the two companies make eight annual unique cards for DAZN Italy.
The first fight card in the new partnership will take place at the Teatro Obi Hall in Florence on November 30. The card will feature a number of fights between Italian and English boxers. Below are the fights announced for November 30:
- Andrea Scarpa vs. Joe Hughes: Vacant EBU European Junior Welterweight Title
- Devis Boschiero vs. Martin Joseph Ward: Vacant WBC International Silver Super Featherweight Title
- Fabio Turchi (c) vs. Tony Conquest: WBC International Silver Cruiserweight Title
Italy is just the latest country to sign deals with Matchroom Boxing and DAZN. In 2018 alone, DAZN secured a $1 billion deal with Matchroom Boxing to expand into the United States and that was followed with a deal to expand into Canada.
DAZN is also the exclusive home of the second season of the World Boxing Super Series in both the United States and in Canada.
