Martin Murray Predicts Early Win For “GGG” Against Kell Brook

Former world champion challenger Martin Murray doesn’t think Kell Brook stands much of a chance of beating Gennady Golovkin when the two face off on September 10.

Murray spoke with ESPN about the middleweight title fight between Golovkin and Brook. Murray, who has fought Golovkin back in February 2015, says Golovkin is on a whole different level in the middleweight division. He predicts an early win for Golovkin.

“It’s a step too far for Kell,” Murray said. “Golovkin is another level and he’s in deep, deep water and I don’t think he’s going to be able to swim. I don’t think Kell can go as long as I did with him. I think it goes five rounds, six maximum, and I know what it is like in there with him. It could go early.”

The 33-year-old spoke on his experiences with Golovkin and doesn’t think that Canelo Alvarez stand a chance against Golovkin’s timing. the two were planning to fight this fall, but both camps have held off on that fight until possibly fall 2017.

“I’ve gone the longest with Golovkin and to beat him you have to move well, which Kell does, and you have to push him back,” Murray said. “That’s how you beat him but I don’t think anyone is strong enough at middleweight to do that. Kell has got great range, distance and timing so Golovkin is going to be in with something different himself. But Golovkin’s distance and timing are something else. He’s in a different league to anything I’ve fought and Canelo [Saul Alvarez] won’t touch him.

Murray is a former WBA interim, British, Commonwealth and WBC Silver middleweight champion.
