Marcus Browne Arrested In Fourth Incident With Ex-Girlfriend
Marcus Browne has been arrested again.
According to a report from SI Live, Browne was arrested on June 12 and accused of criminal contempt for allegedly violating an order of protection his ex-girlfriend and their daughter have in effect against him. The incident marks Browne’s fourth arrest in connection with the same woman.
The report stated that Browne “barged into the woman’s apartment after dropping off their daughter and wouldn’t leave.” An argument between Browne and the woman ensued after Browne asked to use the bathroom and the woman then called 911. Browne was arraigned June 12 in Criminal Court and released on $5,000 bond. The unbeaten boxer’s next court date is scheduled for August 12.
In the prior incidents that led to Browne being arrested, he never received jail time, only conditional discharge and sentenced to 26 sessions of the batterer’s intervention program as well as a full protection order in favor of the victim.
Browne has not fought since this past January when he won the interim WBA light heavyweight title with a dominant 12-round decision win against Badou Jack on the Manny Pacquiao vs. Adrien Broner undercard. Browne was originally scheduled to defend his title against Jean Pascal on the August 3 PBC on Fox card from the Barclays Center.
Whether or not PBC or Fox will keep Browne on the card remains to be seen. One of Browne’s three past arrests did result in a fight falling through and that was a WBO light heavyweight title bout against Sergey Kovalev planned for 2018.
