Light Heavyweight Prospect Leo Hall Dies After Being Gunned Down In Toledo
Light heavyweight prospect Leo Hall died after reportedly being gunned down in Toledo, Ohio. Hall was 23 years old.
Hall dies after being shot during an alleged robbery, days before he was supposed to train for an in-ring return. According to his father, Leo Hall Sr., Hall was set to train with former world title challenger Tony Harrison in Detroit just days before his untimely passing.
“He was going to go back to Detroit to work with Tony Harrison at his gym and then go down to Washington D.C. to train (at Head Bangers Gym),” Hall Sr. told PBC. “This is just hard on everybody, because he was just getting back into it, getting back on the right track… He was just a happy, good kid, who was definitely going to be the light heavyweight champion of the world. This is really just tearing everybody up.’’
Hall’s pro career started in 2014 and won his first eight fights, seven of which ended inside the distance. Hall last fought in 2016, when he lost a unanimous decision to Earl Newman on the undercard of a PBC event that featured fighters such as Robert Easter Jr., Daniel Jacobs, Sergio Mora and Kermit Cintron in action.
The 23-year-old Hall was going to turn 24 years old on December 13. Police are still investigating the details surrounding his death.
