Liam Smith To Fight On Matchroom Boxing Card In Liverpool In March
Matchroom Boxing is heading to Liverpool in late March.
The promotional company announced that it will hold a boxing card at the M&S Bank Arena Liverpool on March 30 and will be headlined by a junior middleweight matchup between Liam Smith and Sam Eggington.

This will be Smith’s first fight under his new deal with Matchroom Boxing that was announced days earlier. Smith will be continuing to campaign at 154 pounds in an effort to reclaim a world title at that weight. Smith has not fought since losing to WBO junior middleweight champion Jaime Munguia in Las Vegas this past summer.
Eggington has had a rough time getting wins on a consistent basis since defeating Paulie Malignaggi in Malignaggi’s final fight in 2017. The 25-year-old Eggington sports a 3-2 record since that win, losing his EBU European welterweight title and is coming off a second-round stoppage to Hassan Mwakinyo back in September.
That fight was not the only one announced for the Liverpool show. Two other fights were also revealed, including a matchup between Joe Hughes and Robbie Davies Jr. for the European and British junior welterweight titles. Below are the confirmed bouts:
- Liam Smith vs. Sam Eggington
- Anthony Fowler vs. Scott Fitzgerald
- Joe Hughes vs. Robbie Davies Jr.: European and British junior welterweight titles
Other fighters who are going to fight on the card include former British heavyweight champion David Price, former Olympic boxer Natasha Jonas and once-beaten boxers Craig Glover and Tom Farrell.
