Josh Warrington vs. Kid Galahad Finalized For June 15 In Leeds

Josh Warrington is returning to his hometown for his next IBF featherweight title defense.

Warrington will face mandatory challenger Kid Galahad in the main event of a Frank Warren-promoted boxing card on June 15 live First Direct Arena in Leeds, England. The fight pits two top 10 featherweights on Fightful’s boxing rankings with Warrington being ranked No. 3 and Galahad being ranked No. 10 in the latest update, which can be seen here.

This will be Warrington’s second title defense since winning the belt with a split decision win over Lee Selby back in May 2018. That fight also took place in Leeds, except it took place on Elland Road. Afterwards, Warrington had only one defense of the title, a decision win against former world champion Carl Frampton last December. It is the first time Warrington fights at First Direct Arena in 2017 when he stopped Dennis Ceylan in the 10th round.

Galahad quickly started his career off on a strong note, winning the WBC International super bantamweight title in 2012 in just his 11th fight. After winning a number of titles as a super bantamweight, including the Commonwealth, British and IBF Youth titles, Galahad would not box for nearly two years as he was serving a drug suspension for testing positive for a banned substance.

Since then, Galahad moved uo in weight and has won eight straight fights after returning from suspension. In 2017, Galahad won the IBF Intercontinental featherweight title and then won a unanimous decision against Toka Kahn Clary to become the top contender to Warrington’s title last year.
