Jeff Horn vs. Anthony Mundine Announced For November In Australia

An Australian superfight between two of the country’s biggest boxing stars will finally happen.

Former world champions Jeff Horn and Anthony Mundine will fight on November 30 at SunCorp Stadium in Brisbane, per an announcement from the venue.

The venue also hosted Horn’s career-defining victory over Manny Pacquiao in the summer of 2017. Horn won the WBO welterweight title with a controversial decision victory over Pacquiao, but a rematch never happened. Since that victory, Horn has fought twice: once in Australia where he defeated Gary Corcoran last December and once in Las Vegas earlier this year when he lost his WBO title to Terence Crawford.

In the press release, Horn expressed excitement over coming back to SunCorp Stadium and face off against another Australian star in Mundine.

“I can’t wait to get back to a packed Suncorp Stadium and face Mundine. The atmosphere was unbelievable when I beat Manny Pacquiao last year and it’s great knowing I’m going to experience that feeling all over again,” Horn said.

Mundine previously held the WBA super middleweight title from 2003 to 2004 and again from 2007 to 2008. In his last fight, Mundine knocked out Tommy Browne in the second round to win the WBO Oriental middleweight title. Sporting a 48-8 record, the 43-year-old Mundine has fought many top boxers throughout his career, including Shane Mosley, Joshua Clottey, Bronco McKart, Mikkel Kessler and more.
