Jeff Horn Upsets Manny Pacquiao For First World Title Win


“The Battle of Brisbane” is an appropriate title for the welterweight world title clash between Jeff Horn and Manny Pacquiao. It is also an appropriate title for the coronation of a new world champion.

Horn upset the future Hall of Famer via unanimous decision (117-111, 115-113, 115-113) to win his very first world title in an extremely hard fought battle. Below is the final round from the Pacquiao vs. Horn live coverage.

Round 12: Both men get tangled up as Horn is hovering over Pacquiao. Horn is now trying to land shots up close. Pacquiao barely misses with a left jab. Horn lands a right hook. Horn ducks a Pacquiao left hand. Pacquiao eats a couple of left hands, but connects with a left of his own as blood is pouring out of the left side of his head. The two boxers land a punch as they clinch once more. Horn throws numerous hooks, but doesn’t fully land. The two men clinch once more. Pacquiao ducks, but Horn then connects a right hand.

The fight was gritty, with both men clashing heads numerous times and bleeding throughout the fight. Horn suffered a cut early in the fight while Pacquiao had two cuts on his hairline as blood gushed out of his head.

The fight nearly ended after the ninth round due to Pacquiao dominating and hurting Horn in the round. Horn demanded he gets another chance and takes advantage of the opportunity, winning his first world championship. When asked if he would like a rematch, Pacquiao said he would like to have one.
