Jamal James To Headline August 24 PBC On FS1 From Minneapolis
Premier Boxing Champions will return to Minneapolis for a boxing card that will be televised on FS1.
It was announced that Minneapolis native and welterweight contender Jamal James will headline the August 24 PBC on FS1 and FOX Deportes card from the Armory. James will face off against Mexican boxer Mahonry Montes.
This will be James’ second consecutive fight in Minneapolis with the first one taking place this past April when he defeated Abel Ramos. James has won his last three fights since losing to Yordenis Ugas in 2016. Montes, a 13-year-pro, has yet to win a title, but has fought several notable names including Egidijus Kavaliauskas, Ashley Theophane, Erick Bone and Humberto Soto
Two other fights were announced for the television portion of the card: Willie Monroe Jr. vs. Immanuwel Aleem and Jamontay Clark vs. Jeison Rosario. The fight between Monroe and Aleem is a battle between two middleweights whose careers are at a crossroads.
Monroe has won three of his last five fights with the two losses being in world title fights. The first loss was to unified champion Gennady Golovkin in 2015 and the second loss being to WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders last September. Aleem, a highly-touted 24-year-old middleweight, started his career with 16 straight victories. In his last four fights since that start, Aleem sports a 2-1-1 record which includes a WBC Silver middleweight title win in 2017.
The fight between Clark and Rosario is a battle between two boxers at 154 pounds riding unbeaten streaks. Clark has not fought since 2017, but has won his two fights last year against Domonique Dolton and Ivan Golub. Rosario has rebounded from a loss to Nathaniel Gallimore, his first pro loss, and has yet to lose in his last four fights.
