Jake Paul Taking A Break From Boxing To Start 2022: “I Need To Take A Break”
YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul took the combat sports world by storm in 2021 but wants to take a much-earned break from active competition to start the new year.
Paul spoke with the media following his sixth-round KO victory over former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in their rematch this past Saturday night in Tampa Bay Florida and addressed what his next move would be after yet another win over a former MMA fighter.
“I don’t really know what’s next on the road map,” Paul said. “I’ve done it all. I’ve accomplished what I’ve wanted to accomplish, and I need to take a break. I’ve been going at this non-stop for a year and a half and it’s a lot. I’m tired, I’m exhausted is the vocabulary word I would use. I need to spend time with my family on Christmas and go on a vacation. I haven’t gone on vacation since I was 18 years old. So I’m going to go on my first real vacation, where there is no obligations.”
He continued to make it clear that he’ll return to the squared circle whenever he wants and responded with the following when asked if he’d return by April or May of 2022.
“Whenever I feel like it,” Paul said. “Whenever I feel like it. It’s gonna be longer than that (April or May). I don’t give a sh*t about any name.”
