GGG Trainer’s Abel Sanchez Sees An Easy Win For Him Over Daniel Jacobs
Gennady Golovkin‘s trainer Abel Sanchez sees an easy win for Golovkin over his next opponent Daniel Jacobs when the two meet in Madison Square Garden in March.
Sanchez spoke to ESPN.com recently and said Golovkin should use the opportunity of fighting Jacobs as a way to send a statement to any naysayers the unified middleweight champion may have.
“I think — I hope — in the aftermath of the fight, the guys that are bad-mouthing Golovkin for not fighting nobody go back and read the articles [that will come out in] the next couple of months about what a tough opponent this is going to be for Gennady, how this guy has all the tools to beat Gennady, because after he beats him and beats him decisively and easily, I hope he gets the recognition he so richly deserves,” Sanchez said.
Golovkin has had a bit of a history of fellow fighters calling him out, from Canelo Alvarez to Billy Joe Saunders and even super middleweight champion James DeGale, who has said in the past he wants Golovkin to make the jump to 168 pounds so that DeGale can fight him.
Both Golovkin and Jacobs will meet to unify the WBA middleweight titles. Golovkin is the WBA “super” middleweight champion and Jacobs is the “regular” champion and Golovkin’s WBC, IBF and IBO titles are also on the line. The bout will be on HBO pay-per-view on March 18.
