Former World Champion To Return To The Ring After Near 4-Year Absence
Zab Judah, who has won titles at light welterweight, welterweight and light middleweight, is set to make his return to the boxing ring after not having competed since 2013.
Judah will be competing at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, New Jersey on January 21 against up and coming 28-year-old Jorge Luis Munguia, who has a 13-7 career record as a pro boxer. The fight will be broadcast on pay-per-view.
Munguia fought for the then-vacant WBF super featherweight title in 2016 against Duarn Vue, but lost via unanimous decision. Munguia now has lost 4 of his last 5 bouts.
The former world champion last fought in 2013, losing to Paulie Malignaggi for the vacant NABF welterweight title. His last world title fight was in his previous fight, losing to Danny Garcia for the WBA "super," WBC and The Ring light welterweight titles. Both of those fights were held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Judah sports a 42-9 record with 2 no contests.
Judah's career, which started in 1996 when he went undefeated in his first 28 fights, includes a who's who list of opponents that he's faced, including Miguel Cotto, Floyd Mayweather, Cory Spinks, Micky Ward, Malignaggi, Garcia, Amir Khan, and Lucas Matthysse. Judah reigned as the undisputed welterweight champion in 2005.
