Fight-size Boxing Update: Kosei Tanaka Interview, Cedric Vitu’s Next Fight, McWilliams Arroyo

Your fight-size boxing update: 

– An interview with WBO flyweight world champion Kosei Tanaka from The Japan Times can be seen in the video at the top of the page. Tanaka will defend his title against  Jonathan Gonzalez on August 24 in Nagoya, Japan.

– In addition to Tony Yoka being announced for a boxing card in France on July 13, Souleymane Cissokho (who signed with Anthony Joshua’s management company) and former title challenger Cedric Vitu have been announced to compete in separate bouts as well. Cissokho will face Jose Carlos Paz while Vitu will fave Alexander Sharonov.

– Below are highlights of McWilliams Arroyo’s successful WBO Latino flyweight title defense against Carlos Buitrago that took place on June 15 in Caguas, Puerto Rico. Arroyo won the fight by unanimous decision with scores of 96-92, 96-92 and 95-93. 

– Kendo Castaneda was announced to fight in the co-main event of the August 2 Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions card that will be headlined by Eva Wahlstrom’s WBC super featherweight title defense and will be streamed on UFC Fight Pass.

– The USA Boxing Alumni Association will honor former amateur standout and Olympic boxing coach Israel Acosta on June 23 in Wisconsin. Acosta was a part of the coaching staff for the 2000 and 2016 U.S. Olympic team.
