Fight-Size Boxing Update: Deontay Wilder, Knockout CP Freshmart Retains WBA Title, RJJ Boxing

Deontay Wilder will join the PBC on FOX commentary team for the August 3 broadcast from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Also on the commentary team is Kenny Albert doing play-by-play and Lennox Lewis doing color commentary with Wilder.

– Murphys Boxing will return to the Encore Boston Harbor on August 23 for a card streamed on UFC Fight Pass. Abraham Nova to defend NABA super featherweight title against Miguel Beltran Jr. and Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan will take on Diego Marocchi.

– Knockout CP Freshmart successfully retained his WBA minimumweight title in Thailand this morning. He defeated ArAr Andales by eighth-round technical decision after a cut over Freshmart’s left eye from a clash of heads forced the bout to be stopped.

– Later tonight, UFC Fight Pass will stream a Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions card from Las Vegas headlined by Eva Wahlstrom’s WBC super featherweight title defense against Ronica Jeffrey. Below are the official weights for the four-fight broadcast:

– WBA “Super” light flyweight champion Hiroto Kyoguchi will defend his world title against Tetsuya Hisada (ranked No. 1 by the WBA) on October 1 at the EDION Arena Osaka in Osaka, Japan.

– The WBA rankings have been updated and there’s an interesting development at welterweight. The WBA “Regular” title is currently vacant after Manny Pacquiao, the previous titleholder, beat Keith Thurman to win the WBA “Super” title on July 20. Thurman entered the rankings at No. 5.

– Vasiliy Lomachenko and Luke Campbell passed WBC-mandated 30-day weight checks for their three-belt lightweight title unification on August 31. Lomachenko weighed in at 144.5 pounds while Campbell came in at 147.4 pounds.

– The WBA has given 60-day medical suspensions to William Encarnacion, Luis Hernandez and Ivan Matute after being knocked out on a boxing card in the Dominican Republic on July 27.

– Savannah Marshall has signed a promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing.
