Featherweight Contender Luis Rosa Jr. Dies In Car Accident, Stars React
Featherweight boxer Luis Rosa Jr. tragically died in a car accident. He was 26 years old.
Promoter Lou DiBella hared the sad news on social media on the morning of January 14.
Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Rosa began his career in 2010, going undefeated for almost the entirety of his career. As a rising, unbeaten prospect, Rosa has defeated former regional champions such as Luis Orlando Del Valle, Jose Angel Beranza and Jonathan Perez.
Rosa's last fight saw him be the headliner of a ShoBox: The Next Generation card on Showtime back on November 10. Rosa narrowly lost to Yuandale Evans by split decision with the vacant WBC Continental Americas featherweight title on the line. That fight was also Rosa's first title fight as a professional boxer.
Below are some of the reactions from the boxing world to the tragic news:
Rosa's career ends with 23-1 record with 2 no contests and 11 wins via knockout.
