Exclusive: Terence Crawford: I’m Ready For “The Best Amir Khan”
While many people are expecting Terence Crawford to beat Amir Khan on April 20, Crawford is making sure that kind of chatter prevent him from preparing for the absolute best version of Amir Khan.
Crawford, one of boxing’s top pound-for-pound stars and the reigning WBO welterweight champion, said he is not “not going to be complacent” when asked by Fightful during a recent media conference call. Crawford noted that overlooking a fighter, especially one with Khan’s credentials and skillset, could lead to disastrous results.
“I am never going to be complacent. I know about the threats that he brings into the ring and the troubles that I can have if I overlook Amir Khan. He’s got everything to gain so we have to take this fight real serious because the fights that slip out of a fighters’ hands happen when they think the fight is in the bag and it didn’t even start yet. We are going into the fight 110 percent focused and ready for the best Amir Khan come fight night,” Khan said.
The two men are set to square off with the WBO title on the line in the main event of an ESPN pay-per-view card. Fightful also got to speak with Top Rank CEO Bob Arum about the thought process on making the fight a pay-per-view event and you can read more about it at this link.
Fightful will have live coverage of the fight live from Madison Square Garden. You can listen to Crawford talking with Fightful during the conference call in the video above.
