Errol Spence Jr.: I Want To Fight Thurman, Porter, Garcia

While Errol Spence Jr. will have his hands busy with Carlos Ocampo when the two fight on Showtime on June 16, he does have his sights set on some of the other top welterweights in the world.

In a press conference to officially kick off the road to Spence Jr. vs. Ocampo, Spence talked about fighting the likes of Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter and Keith Thurman.

“I do believe I’m the best welterweight in boxing right now. I’m never looking past anyone, but I’d love to fight Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter and when he’s back, Keith Thurman. I’m ready to fight the best in the division and prove I reign supreme over all of them,” Spence Jr. said.

Spence Jr., who holds the IBF welterweight title, has stated in the past that he would like to unify welterweight world titles. Currently, Garcia and Porter have been ordered by the WBC to fight for the vacant title that Thurman surrendered due to suffering another injury that has delayed his return to the ring. Thurman still currently has the WBA welterweight title, but it remains to be seen if he will vacate that title as well, be stripped of the title or keep the title.

The June 16 fight between Spence Jr. and Ocampo is expected to headline a Showtime Championship Boxing card from The Star in Frisco, Texas. The only other matchup announced for the June 16 card is a welterweight matchup between former world champions Devon Alexander and Andre Berto.
