Devin Haney To Headline January 2019 ShoBox Card
Devin Haney is ready to open 2019 with a main event fight on Showtime.
Haney will headline a “ShoBox: The Next Generation” card taking place in Shreveport, Louisiana on January 11, 2019. Haney will take on unbeaten South African boxer Xolisani Ndongeni.
The 20-year-old Haney had a successful 2018, having won the USBA and IBF North American lightweight titles in his two fights this year. Both of those fights were also aired on ShoBox cards on Showtime. Haney has also earned himself a spot in the top 10 in the WBC, WBA and IBF rankings at 135 pounds.
Ndongeni sports a 25-0 record as a professional boxer. Ndongeni won the World Boxing Federation lightweight title back in April and later defended back in August when he scored a TKO victory over Salimu Jengo.
Also announced for the televised portion of the card is a battle between Ruben Villa and Carlos Vidal, two undefeated featherweights whose record each stands at 14-0. Villa, a 21-year-old boxer from California, won the WBO Youth World featherweight title back in April and is making his debut on Showtime. Vidal, a former amateur national champion in Puerto Rico, has won 13 fights by knockout in three rounds or less.
The last fight on the televised card is a heavyweight fight involving Frank Sanchez Faure facing off against an opponent to be named later. Faure has a 10-0 record, winning nine fights in 2018 alone and had a 10th fight end in a no contest.
