Devin Haney To Defend WBC Lightweight Title Against Alfredo Santiago On KSI vs. Logan Paul 2 Card
Just seven days away from his next fight, Devin Haney’s first WBC lightweight title defense has been officially announced.
DAZN and Matchroom Boxing announced that Haney will fight Alfredo Santiago on the undercard of the KSI vs. Logan Paul 2 event on November 9 that will be streamed on DAZN in the United States.
Haney became the WBC lightweight champion as a result of Vasiliy Lomachenko, who also holds the WBA and WBO titles, being elevated from WBC titlist to Franchise champion. Haney had previously won the interim title back in September at Madison Square Garden when he took on Zaur Abdullaev in what was previously announced as a title eliminator.
Santiago has won all 12 of his pro bouts and is currently ranked No. 17 by the WBC, but isn’t ranked in the top 15 of any of the four major governing bodies (WBA, WBO, IBF and WBC). Santiago does own wins against former champion Jonathan Victor Barros and Jayson Velez.
The announcement officially gives the card two world title fights supporting the main event. The other title fight on the card is for the WBO super middleweight title between Billy Joe Saunders and Marcelo Esteban Coceres.
Also previously announced is that the card will be shown on FITE on various countries such as Australia, France, Netherlands, the Baltic region, India and all of Scandinavia.
