Demetrius Andrade: There’s No Reason For Canelo Or GGG To Not Fight Me
Demetrius Andrade was impressed with Gennadiy Golovkin’s knockout win over Steve Rolls, but now wants either him or Canelo Alvarez to step up to the plate and face him.
During an interview on the Golovkin vs. Rolls post-show, Andrade talked about Golovkin’s win and said that if the former unified world champion wants to impress anybody and show that he really is back, then he should fight Andrade. The undefeated Andrade, who currently holds the WBO middleweight title, added that after he wins his next title defense against Maciej Sulecki at the end of this month, then he’ll be good to go to face either him or Alvarez.
“I mean listen, he did his job. He did what he needed to do against an inexperienced opponent like Steve Rolls. I am the WBO champion of the world and if GGG wants to fight a real guy, he has to come this way to make a statement. I want Canelo next, I want GGG next. I’ll take care of Sulecki on June 29 in my hometown of Providence, Rhode Island and it’s time for the elite guys to fight the elite guys,” Andrade said.
The one thing that Andrade, Alvarez and Golovkin all have in common is that they fight on DAZN and Andrade believes there’s no reason that he can’t fight any of them based on that one fact alone.
“What do we got to do to make this thing happen? We’re all signed to DAZN and there’s no reason to believe that after I do my job on the 29th that I can’t get back in the ring and t get a fight with Canelo or GGG. If that doesn’t happen, they need to stop boxing,” Andrade said.
Andrade’s fight against Sulecki will headline a Matchroom Boxing USA card from the Dunkin Donuts Center in Rhode Island that will be streamed on DAZN. The full interview can be seen in the video at the top of the page.
