Chris Eubank Jr. To Fight Arthur Abraham On July 15

Chris Eubank Jr. is ready to start gunning for major world title fights and his next fight will have him go up against former world champion Arthur Abraham.

Eubank, the current IBO super middleweight champion, will defend his belt against Abraham on July 15 at the SSE Wembley Arena in London.

In a press conference on June 7, which can be seen above, Eubank, the son of former two-division champion Chris Eubank Sr., called himself “the next generation” of boxing and is confident of his chances of winning the fight.

“I respect every fighter. Anyone who enters the ring has my respect, but it’s my time now,” Eubank said. “I’m the next generation.”

Abraham is the current mandatory challenger to the WBO super middleweight championship, currently held by Gilberto Ramirez. Abraham lost the title to Ramirez back in 2016 and is a former IBF middleweight champion. Abraham recently won the WBO title eliminator ordered to him when he beat Robin Krasniqi via unanimous decision earlier this year.

Eubank has only one loss in his pro career, a 2014 loss to current WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders. After not taking a fight with current unified middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin late last year, Eubank opted to move up in weight and won the IBO title back in February with a 10th-round stoppage win over Renold Quinlan. The fight against Abraham will Eubank’s second fight as a super middleweight.

July 15 has become a very popular date for boxing this year. Fox is having a primetime PBC card at the Nassau Coliseum with a main event of Robert Guerrero vs. Omar Guerrero and HBO having an HBO Championship Boxing telecast with Miguel Berchelt vs. Takashi Miura serving as the headliner.
