Caleb Plant vs. David Benavidez Targeted For January
Former IBF super middleweight champion, Caleb Plant, and current interim WBC super middleweight champ David Benavidez are scheduled to clash in January.
Boxing Scene’s Jake Donovan was the first to report the news of the matchup being in the works, with ESPN’s Mike Coppinger providing additional info on the bout taking place in January and that both fighters have signed contracts for it. Plant also confirmed the booking himself via the following tweet, although no announcement has officially yet been made regarding the fight.

Plant is currently 22-1 as a pro and is coming off a 9th-round KO victory over former two-time WBC super middleweight champion, Anthony Dirrell, last month. Benavidez meanwhile is undefeated as a pro at 26-0 and will look to build on a third-round TKO victory over former IBF middleweight champ, David Lemieux, back in May.
