Badou Jack vs. Marcus Browne Conference Call Highlights
A little more than two weeks before their interim WBA light heavyweight title fight, Badou Jack and Marcus Browne talk to the media and give their thoughts on their matchup.
In a recent media conference call that Fightful took part in, the two contenders in a deep 175-pound division touch upon a number of topics, including Adonis Stevenson, potential fights against Dmitry Bivol and there’s even a cameo from Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe talking about a future fight between Bivol and Jack.
Below are highlights of the conference call courtesy from Fightful lead boxing reporter Carlos Toro:
Prior to the Q&A section, Marcus Browne tried to get Badou Jack to take a side bet on the winner of their fight. #PacquiaoBroner #JackBrowne

I asked Badou Jack if he would welcome a fight against WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol if he wins the interim WBA title on January 19. Jack is not focused on Bivol as his next fight and wants to beat Marcus Browne first and said he would be fine with that fight.

Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe chimed in and said they’re willing to make a fight against any of the other world champions at 175 pounds if Badou Jack defeats Marcus Browne on January 19. #JackBrowne #PacquiaoBroner

Badou Jack said he would love to fight all the champions at 175 pounds, but would fight the one who pays the most first. If all the championhip fights pay the same, Jack said he would probably pick WBA champion Dmitry Bivol first. #JackBrowne #PacquiaoBroner

Marcus Browne was asked the same question and said he wants the biggest prize fight out there if he defeats Badou Jack on January 19 #JackBrowne #PacquiaoBroner
— Carlos Toro (@CarlosToro360) January 2, 2019
I asked Marcus Browne if he believes his fight against Badou Jack on Jan. 19 already shows he’s a contender at 175 pounds or does he feel he still needs a win over Jack to show he’s an elite fighter. Browne said Jack and this fight does not define his legacy #PacquiaoBroner

The fight between Jack and Browne is set to take place on January 19 in Las Vegas. The bout is scheduled to be the co-main event for the Showtime pay-per-view card headlined by Manny Pacquiao vs. Adrien Broner for the WBA “Regular” welterweight title. Two other title fights are also set to take place on the pay-per-view card: Rau’Shee Warren vs. Nordine Oubaali for the vacant WBC bantamweight title and Jhack Tepora vs. Hugo Ruiz for the interim WBA featherweight title.
