UNDERCARD

Kenny Robles vs. Latorie Woodberry: Welterweight bout

Robles made his professional debut in this fight and he didn’t do too badly here to open the show. Robles worked the body hard in th first round, but leaves himself open way too often and with a more experienced fighter, Robles would have been knocked down from the getgo. Woodberry got some hard punches in, but still lacks finishing power. You can tell both guys still are very green as professionals. They’re unpolished and need to work more towards the technical side of the sport.

The fourth, and final round, was very entertaining with both guys throwing wild haymakers from the start. Robles, who’s from Staten Island, New York, got a lot fans who traveled to Brooklyn and Robles found a rhythm as the round went on. Conversely, Woodberry was looking winded throughout the round and did not do much in the last 90 seconds.

Fightful scored the fight 39-37, giving the win to Robles

Official Result: Kenny Robles defeated Latorie Woodberry via unanimous decision (39-37, 39-37, 38-36)

Noel Murphy defeated Maxito Sainvil via unanimous decision: Welterweight bout

Murphy was dominant in this match, and the short period between his last fight and tonight (less than two months) didn’t really factor in much for the young Irishman. Murphy improves to 8-0 as a professional boxer while handing Sainvil his first loss as well. Murphy’s punches looked more solid and was far more technically sound than in the last fight and he’s a decent prospect with a lot of upside.

Adam Kownacki vs. Joshua Tufte: Heavyweight bout

Very fun fight while it lasted. Both guys were hitting each other with power punches and the crowd was yelling “Knockout!” Kownacki remains perfect as a pro boxer with a 15-0 record and now 12 KOs.

SHOWTIME EXTREME UNDERCARD

Thomas Dulorme vs. Brian Jones: Welterweight bout

Round 1: Dulorme starts off by working the body. Jones sporadically is throwing punches while Dulorme is utilizing the jab a lot. Dulorme hits a right jab to Jones’ body. Dulorme tags Jones with a right and he’s been moving back and Dulorme hits another right. Dulorme with a hard right hook and Jones throws a weak left jab. Round ends with Dulorme hitting Jones’ face with a right hook.

Fightful scored round 1 for Dulorme 10-9

Round 2: Dulorme starts with a couple of straight left hand punches, followed by a four-punch combo that is finished by an uppercut. Dulorme is now starting to use the hooks heavily on the body and he’s hurting Jones. Dulorme keeps hurting Jones’ body and Jones is close to being knocked down. Jones connects on a left jab. Dulorme hits two straight body hooks. Round ends with more body shots by Dulorme.

Round 3: Both men clinch to start the round. Dulorme keeps punishng Jones with body shots and Jones throws a right hook to Dulorme’s head. Dulorme is now moving upstairs with his offense Dulorme hurts Jones with an uppercut and is using the hook to try and knock him down, but Jones somehow stays up. Jones’ face looks really messed up towards the end of the third round. Jones throws a right hook and the round ends.

Round 4: The website editor did not save my post for this round, but a quick summary is more of the same punishment from Dulorme.

Round 5: Jones is showing a bit more life by throwing more punches. Dulorme is now using the uppercuts more often to dish out damage. Dulorme hurts Jones, but he’s still standing. Dulorme hits Jones down low and he’s deducted a point. Dulorme comes out on fire now, landing most of his rapid-fire uppercuts and Jones goes down but it isn’t a knock down. Dulorme connects on three-straight left hooks upstairs.

Round 6: Dulorme connects on a hard left hook upstairs. Jones’ face looks really beaten up here. Dulorme continues connecting until the referee stops the fight adn Dulorme is your winner.

Ievgen Khytrov vs. Immanuwel Aleem: Vacant WBC Silver Middleweight Championship bout

Round 1: Both men start out strong with a couple straight left hands. Aleem tags Khytrov and is stunned. Aleem throws like 12 power punches, but Khytrov shows impressive chin and stays up. Khytrov is fighting back with a few body shots. Aleem throws an overheadd right and hurts Khytrov again. Khytrov is still up.

Round 2: Khytrov is getting checked by the doctor and he’s allowed to fight again. Aleem stays composed and throws a hard right jab. Khytrov is hitting the body of Aleem and now both men exchange head shots. Khytrov has found his rhythm and is on the offensive. Khytrov has Aleem on the ropes and hits an uppercut which lands on Aleem’s jaw. Khytrov connects on a left hook.

Round 3: Khytrov is bringing the fight up close and Khytrov is hitting on several uppercuts. Aleem knocks down Khytrov and he gets back up again and the two men start brawling. What a fight.

Round 4: Khytrov is utilizing the body hook again and is on the offensive once more. Aleem is now pacing himself around the ring. Khytrov hits a left straight jab. Khytrov once again tags Aleem once more. Aleem absorbs two hard punches to his face. Aleem goes to a corner and Khytrov is hitting him hard once more.

Round 5: Khytrov is chasing Aleem once more. Aleem misses a right hook. Khytrov traps Aleem to a corner and hits a couple of hard left hooks to Aleem’s body. Aleem responds with a solid right hand.

Round 6: Khytrov is connecting on several tough body blows, but Aleem knocks Khytrov down again. Aleem smells blood and the referee stopped the fight.

Official Result: Immanuel Aleem defeated Ievgen Khytrov via TKO, round 6, 1:20 to win the WBC Silver Middleweight Title

Amanda Serrano (c) vs. Yazmin Rivas: WBO Female Junior Featherweight Championship Bout

Round 1: Both women start wildly throwing punches. Serrano connects on a few hard punches to Rivas’ body. Rivas connects on a hard right hook to Serrano’s face. Serrano has Rivas trapped in the corner for a second and hits a hard left body shot.

Round 2: Serrano is pressuring Rivas to the corner again and isn’t letting up. Rivas is answering almost every Serrano punch with one of her own. The two women trade hooks and uppercuts for the last 30 seconds of the round.

Round 3: Serrano starts off with a left jab. Rivas is landing more shots per combination. Serrano hits a right hook and Rivas was a bit wobbly for a second. Serrano tags Rivas’ face with another right hook and Rivas does the same. Once more, the two boxers exchange shots towards the end of the round. Rivas’ face is almost beet red.

Round 4: Serrano connects on a left hook. The two women trade lefts and rights and Serrano finishes it off with a left jab. Rivas hits Serrano with a soft left. Rivas misses another one and the rounds with Serrano connecting on a right jab.

Round 5: Rivas connects on a right jab. Rivas is now hitting on her power punches to Serrano’s body. Serrano hits a right hook to Rivas’ face. More exchanges end the round.

Round 6: Serrano is now the one being trapped in the corner as rivas is now finding her own offensive rhythm right here. Serrano connects on a left jab and Rivas misses with an overhead right. Rivas misses again on a couple of body shots and Serrano is hit hard as the bell rung.

Round 7: Serrano is now blocking the left hand punches that Rivas had been connecting earlier on. Rivas lands a few shots to the right side of Serrano’s body. Rivas connects on a couple of straight left hands. Round ends with Rivas missing most of her punches.

Round 8: Serrano tags Rivas with a left hook. Serrano now hits Rivas with a right hook. Rivas answers Serrano’s hook with one of her own. Serrano is getting more confident. Rivas throws a couple of left jabs, but don’t do much. Serrano connects with a right to Rivas’ face.

Round 9: Serrano lunges forward with a right, but misses. Rivas connects on a right jab. Serrano misses with a hook and Rivas also misses with a counter right. Serrano tags Rivas with a straight left. Rivas hits a left hook and Serrano momentarily is stunned, but recovers quickly.

Round 10: Rivas hits Serrano hard with a right during an exchange at the start of the round. Serrano tags Rivashard with a right hook. The two women trade blows as the crowd cheers them on. Rivas hits a body hook and the two go for one last hard exchange of punches. The crowd cheers both women for the exciting last round.

SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING MAIN CARD

Jose Pedraza (c) vs. Gervonta Davis: IBF Junior Lightweight Championship bout

Round 1: Pedraza connects on a left jab to start things off. Pedraza tags Davis on the chin and Davis counters with a right hook. Davis connects with an uppercut. Davis tags Pedraza once more with a huge uppercut that bobbled Pedraza’s head. Both men clinch and Pedraza lands a body shot in that short instance. Davis works the body with a couple of hooks

Round 2: Pedraza starts off with a three-fight jab combo. Pedraza tags Davis with another jab and has Davis on the ropes. Pedraza has Davis in the corner where he throws a few more hooks and uppercuts, but Davis escapes relatively unscathed. Davis unloads a number of power punches and Pedraza is on the defensive. Crowd goes nuts as this happens (It’s a very pro-Davis Barclays Center). Round ends with both men locked up close dealing each other body shots.

Round 3: Davis takes the fight up close and the two men get tangled up and the referee separates the two. Davis deals another power punch. Davis unleashed a flurry of punches but Pedraza bobs and weaves away from most of them. Davis connects on a huge uppercut, followed by a couple of right hooks. Pedraza’s face is already showing a lot of damage.

Round 4: The two men exchange several jabs at each other. Davis is now working the body once more and the two men clinch with Pedraza landing a couple of body shots in the meantime

Round 5: Davis lands a low body hook and proceeds to hit Pedraza hard. Pedraza responds with several hard body hooks. Pedraza tags Davis once more and is throwing a flurry of punches. Davis connects on a hard left hook and the two taunt each other.

Round 6: Davis uses the jab to connect first. Davis is moving around the ring and the two boxers clinch. Davis hits a hard right jab to Pedraza’s jaw. Davis then hits three straight hard uppercuts to Pedraza and he is hurt. Davis is setting up for the knockout and Pedraza still stands. Pedraza gets hit hard in the jaw once more and is trying to just survive this round.

Round 7: There was a long discussion between the ringside doctors and Pedraza. Pedraza is allowed to fight. Pedraza sill keeps getting hit. He let his hands down for a quick second and Davis takes the opportunity to hit a hard left hand. Pedraza goes down and the Barclays Center goes nuts. Referee stops the fight and we have a new champion.

James DeGale (c) vs. Badou Jack (c): WBC/IBF Super Middleweight Unification World Championship bout

Round 1: Jack hits DeGale with a low body jab. Neither man are throwing much in the first minute of the fight. DeGale clinches with Jack and hits a couple of body shots. DeGale leads with a couple of strong left hooks. Both men go up close and hit each other in the ribs momentarily and DeGale knocks down Jack. DeGale is unleashing a flurry of hooks and the round ends.

Round 2: DeGale starts off with three hard punches from the left. Barclays Center is chanting “Chunky!” which is DeGale’s nickname. Jack starts hitting with the left hook. DeGale connects with an uppercut and Jack counters with a right jab. Jack connects with a right uppercut. Jack then hits a strong left hand which DeGale answers back with one of his own.

Round 3: DeGale hits Jack with a right hand and Jack is now using the jab to set up bigger combos. DeGale hits a few big hooks to Jack’s ribs and Jack tags DeGale with a right jab. Jack hits DeGale with a right hook and DeGale pummels Jack with several power punches. DeGale hits Jack with another barrage of punches and Jack finally counters with a short hook of his own.

Round 4: DeGale blocks a hook and an uppercut by Jack. DeGale misses wildly with a body left hook. DeGale then goes for another combo hook and Jack goes forward with a lunging right jab. DeGale hits an uppercut, followed by a short hook. DeGale misses with an overhead right.

Round 5: Jack open things up with a hard shot to DeGale’s head. DeGale eats a hard left hook and he is eventually stunned. DeGale hits a couple of left hooks, but is soon on the ropes. Jack pressures DeGale with a number of body shots. DeGale takes a right jab and as the round ends, the referee accidentally gets hit with a hard left hook. The crowd laughs at this moment.

Round 6: Both men exchange blows at the start of the round. Jack is starting to become the aggressor in this round, hitting DeGale with a swinging left hook. DeGale eventually responds with a 1-2 combo of his own. Jack pressures DeGale into the ropes and unloads a series of punishing hooks. DeGale survives the round standing.

Round 7: Jack is continuing to press forward, but DeGale is fighting back. Jack is using the left jab to set up a hook or an uppercut to DeGale’s body. Jack is pressuring DeGale to the corner, but quickly gets out.

Round 8: Jack connects with an uppercut, throwing DeGale’s mouthpiece out of his mouth. DeGale is hurt, but is still standing. Jack keeps throwing more body shot and hits DeGale with a big left hand. The two men get close and both hit each other with a series of uppercuts.

Round 9: Jack starts off with a body shot, but DeGale responds with a couple of uppercuts. DeGale is back on the charge with several hooks, but Jack is still firing hard punches. DeGale misses a right hook. DeGale’s face is looking pretty bad.

Round 10: DeGale is actively pacing around the ring and then goes on the offensive. DeGale is finding his rhythm once more. DeGale is finding ways to throw hooks to Jack’s face. DeGale is on the ropes, but quickly moves away from it. DeGale connects on a hard right hook to Jack’s jaw. DeGale is absorbing numerous hits from Jack.

Round 11: Jack starts off with a body jab. The two me exchange various punches and uppercuts. DeGale unloads on Jack with numerous body shots. Jack connects on a left hook to DeGale’s head. DeGale throws seven consecutive punches, but Jack blocks most of them.

Round 12: DeGale starts off with a couple of hooks, which Jack blocks. DeGale now is going for several consecutive body shots. Jack hits a body shot of his own. Jack knocks down DeGale and all 10,128 are on their feet. DeGale hurts Jack, but doesn’t knock him down.
