Amir Khan Still Open To Fighting Kell Brook, Manny Pacquiao In The Future

While Amir Khan is preparing for a trip to Saudi Arabia for his next fight, the former world champion is already thinking of fights beyond July 12.

Khan spoke with talkSPORT and said there is still a possibility he could face long-time British rival Kell Brook, a fight that had been demanded by the British public for years. Khan was recently promoted by Matchroom Boxing, Brook’s promoter, but a fight never materialized as Khan went ahead with a fight against WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford. Although he’s a promotional free agent, Khan said he would be open to working with Matchroom once again to make the fight against Brook possible.

“Definitely, it is a possibility. There’s some big fights out there and Kell being one of them, that’s what we’re looking at. I did get a call from my lawyer the other day saying, ‘Oh, they wanna start talking about the Kell Brook fight negotiations.’ I go, ‘Look, go ahead, let’s start to negotiate, let’s see what can happen in that fight,’” Khan said.

Khan was also asked about the possibility of facing Manny Pacquiao down the road and Khan said such a fight is certainly possible. The two were once linked to a fight years ago, but it never came to be. Even though Khan holds a lot of respect for the future Hall of Famer, he does believe Pacquiao’s peak happened a long time ago.

“It could be [on the cards]. I’d love the Manny Pacquiao fight, he’s a great fighter. I think I definitely have his number because of sparring with him and knowing him for such a long time. I think it’s the best time to catch him as well, I think he hit his peak a long time ago,” Khan said.

For the moment, Khan is preparing for a fight against former world champion Billy Dib in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on July 12. Khan was supposed to face Neeraj Goyat until Goyat withdrew from the fight due to a car accident.
