Amanda Serrano Signs With DAZN, Looking For Katie Taylor Fight
Amanda Serrano, who made history in September by winning a world title in a sixth weight class, has entered the next chapter of her boxing career, signing with DAZN.
Serrano, who is also an MMA fighter, signed with the streaming service as a boxer and will be competing on Matchroom Boxing USA shows. The announcement was first made on Twitter.
The 30-year-old Serrano is targeting a fight against either current WBO super flyweight champion Raja Amasheh in an effort to win a title in seven weight classes and a fight against unified WBA and IBF lightweight champion Katie Taylor. Taylor recently retained her titles with a unanimous decision over Serrano’s sister Cindy.
Amanda Serrano has been one of the biggest stars in women’s boxing for years and is the only woman in history to win a major world title in six divisions, joining the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya. Serrano also embarked on an MMA career earlier this year, competing in Combate Americas.
Although Serrano will be competing on DAZN as a boxer, subscribers of the streaming service already have seen her in competition. In one of Combate Americas’ first shows on DAZN, Serrano scored a submission win over Erendina Ordonez, improving her record to 1-0-1. No timetable for Serrano’s first boxing fight on DAZN has been set.
