Alantez Fox vs. Liam Williams In WBO Middleweight Title Eliminator Set For December 21
While the middleweight division continues to take shape, Alantez Fox and Liam Williams are looking to crash the party and secure a world title shot.
The two contenders will face each other in a WBO title eliminator on December 21 at the Copper Box Arena in London. The fight will be part of the undercard for a heavyweight bout between unbeaten rising contender Daniel Dubois and Kyotaro Fujimoto.
Fox is the WBO’s No. 1 contender for the middleweight title and is looking to secure a rematch against Demetrius Andrade for the title. The two squared off back in 2017 when Andrade was knocked down in the seventh round, but ultimately ended up winning the bout by unanimous decision. Since then, Fox has won his last three fights, including an eight-round unanimous decision victory over Bruno Leonardo Romay back on October 26.
Williams, ranked No. 7 by the WBO at middleweight, has rebounded well after a pair of losses to former world champion Liam Smith, winning the British middleweight title last year. After the two losses to Smith, Williams has won five straight bouts, all inside the distance. In his last bout, Williams stopped Karim Achour in the second round to win the WBC Silver title.
Also on the undercard of that event is Tommy Fury, who is related to former unified heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, facing an opponent to be named at a later date as well as Sunny Edwards facing Marcel Braithwaite for the vacant BBBofC British super flyweight title.
