Adrien Broner: I Don’t Give A F*ck About Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, It’s My Time To Take Over Boxing
Adrien Broner has been called the underdog throughout the entire buildup to his fight against Manny Pacquiao and is tired that people are already talking about potential fights for Pacquiao.
For months, questions were raised about a potential rematch between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather even while Broner is Pacquiao’s current opponent. To say that Broner does not care about that rematch would be an understatement.
In a recent media conference call, Broner did not mince words when it comes to discussing Mayweather vs. Pacquiao 2 when asked by Fightful if being overlooked like that has given him any more motivation for his January 19 fight against the Filipino superstar.
“No disrespect but I don’t give a f*ck about Mayweather and Pacquiao or any other fights people are talking about. I’m focused on Adrien Broner and Manny Pacquiao. I’m focused on getting this victory. And then I’m going to go to the drawing board with my team with Stephen Espinoza and Al Haymon and make bigger moves,” Broner said.
Pacquiao and Broner are set to fight in a title fight in Pacquiao’s first fight since signing a deal with Premier Boxing Champions. At 40 years old, Pacquiao still has gas left in his tank, as evidenced by his knockout victory over Lucas Matthysse in his last fight back in 2018, but the 29-year-old Broner said it is his time to shine and take over boxing.
“Pacquiao’s a legend. He’ll always go down as one of the best in the boxing business. But I just feel like it’s my time to take over this sport and I’m coming to take the throne from Pacquiao,” Broner said.
Fightful will have a live results page for the fight between Pacquiao and Broner, for the WBA “Regular” welterweight title, which will headline a pay-per-view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. You can listen to Pacquiao talking to Fightful in the video at the top of the page.
