Samoa Joe Qualifies For Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, Wins AEW Debut Match On 4/6 Dynamite

The Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament has officially begun.

On the April 6 episode of Dynamite, Samoa Joe made his AEW debut against Max Caster of The Acclaimed in a qualifying match for the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. The winner would be the first person to officially claim a spot on the bracket.

Caster was dominated by Joe from start to finish in this match, with the former NXT Champion putting Caster away with The Muscle Buster. After the bell, Jay Lethal appeared on the screen and challenged Joe to a match next week on Dynamite, saying that he couldn’t get ahold of his teacher over the past four months, insisting that Joe only answers his phone for billionaires.

Joe signed with AEW on April 1 when he appeared during the final moments of ROH Supercard of Honor. The match with Caster was his first bout since NXT TakeOver 36 on August 22, 2021.

Both the men’s and women’s tournaments are set to conclude next month at Double or Nothing.
