AEW Rampage Results for 4/1/2022: Young Bucks vs Top Flight, Owen Hart Tournament Qualifier + More

The Young Bucks( Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) (w/ Brandon Cutler) vs Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin)

The transmission began with Dante Martin and Matt Jackson evading each other’s offense before standing off outside. Nick Jackson tagged in but was corned by Dante before Darius tagged in and hit a suplex on Matt. Dante tagged in before Darius tagged in and hit a kick on Matt Jackson’s stomach, before hitting a modified arm lock on Nick Jacson. Dante kicked Nick’s arm for a near fall, leading to another tag from Darius. Nick went Nick Jackson tagged in and hit an elbow on Darius. After sending Matt onto Brandon Cutler, Dante Martin hit a Tope Suicida on everyone. Matt Jackson surrounded ringside before superkicking Dante on the apron. Darius tried to chase down Matt, but got hit with a Superkick by Nick. Nick hit a buckle bomb on Darius before hitting a running senton on Darius before the picture in picture break.

During the break, Nick hit a knee to the back of Darius before putting in a headlock on Darius. Darius continued to evade offense before tagging in Dante Martin, who hit a spring rope Drop kick on Nick. Nick touched the eyes before throwing Dante out of the ring. Darius hit a STO on Matt Jackson, followed by a standing senton from Dante for a near fall. Darius hit an assisted German Suplex bridge, before Nick broke the pinfall attempt. Dante was pushed out of the ring by Matt Jackson, but was caught with a Standing Spanish Fly. Matt and Darius exchanged strikes before Darius hit a superkick on Matt, but he got caught with the BTE Trigger for the Bucks to pick up the pinfall win.

Winners: The Young Bucks (w/ Brandon Cutler)

– There was a video package showcasing Kris Statlander and her new attitude, teasing a gimmick change. She welcomed the audience to a new side of Statlander, before cutting to the commercial break.

– After the commercial break, Dan Lambert stated that he felt like a bride in a wedding with Tay Conti and Sammy Guevara’s absence from Dynamite. Ethan Page ran through Sammy and Tay’s viral picture with the TNT Championship, asking if Fuego del Sol was the photographer. Paige Van Zant stated that it was Orange Cassidy, where she said she took the Freshley Squeezed nickname too far. Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti destroyed Dan Lambert’s car in an attempt to get their match against American Top Team. Dan Lambert still said that they will not get the match.

– Danhausen interrupted HOOK’s interview with Tony Shiavone in an attempt to curse him, but HOOK was not amused. Danhausen asked Shiavone “What was that all about?” before ending the segment.

House of Black (Malakai Black, Buddy Murphy & Brody King) vs Evil Uno, Stu Grayson and Fuego del Sol

The match began with Stu Grayson and Buddy Matthews locking up, before Matthews hitting two shoulder blocks on Grayson before being hit with a clothesline. Matthews got hit with an elbow before hitting a senton to Matthews. Fuego del Sol tagged in, but Matthews launched Fuego with a Snake Eyes to the corner, before Brody King launched Fuego onto Evil Uno and Grayson.

During the break, all the members of The House of Black attacked their opponents outside, with Brody King hitting a series of chops on Fuego del Sol outside. Fuego and King got back to the ring before Malakai Black tagged in, getting Fuego with a headlock before the commercial break.

After the commercial break, Matthews got Fuego from the foot to stop the tag, but Grayson tagged in hit a kick on Matthews before Uno hit a clothesline to send Matthews outside. Malakai got hit powerbomb, but King threw Grayson onto Uno to break up the pinfall before hitting a running senton on Dark Order. Fuego got surrounded by The House of Black, but Uno and Grayson came in for the save and hit Malakai with a Poison-rana. He jumped to the ropes, but got hit with the Black Mass kick for the pinfall win.

Winner: House of Black

– After the match, The Young Bucks announced that FTR vs Young Bucks 2 is scheduled for the April 6, 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite, telling FTR that they will lose to the Bucks again.

Owen Hart Cup Qualifier

Jamie Hayter vs Skye Blue

The match began with Hayter and Skye Blue locking up, followed by Hayter hitting an elbow on Blue. Hayter went for the O’Connor Roll, but Blue got a near fall in favor before hitting Tijeras on Hayter. Hayter did an Exploder Suplex on the corner on Blue, followed by Hayter sending Blue’s head to the corner. Hayter went for a Vertical Suplex, but was caught on multiple pinfall attempts on Hayter before being hit with a back breaker. Blue hit Hayter with a knee before hitting another kick for the near fall. Hayter caught a kick attempt from Blueto a Back Suplex. Hayter got hit with a kick by Blue, who climbed the ropes before being caught by Hayter with multiple punches. Hayter hit a Superplex on Blue, which was followed by a Brainsbuster and a Ripcord for the emphatic pinfall victory.

Winner: Jamie Hayter

– Penta Oscuro & Alex Abrahantes cut a promo, warning House of Black to not forget about about Death Triangle.

– Christian Cage vs Adam Cole was also announced for the April 6, 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite.

– Powerhouse Hobbs said that Keith Lee would not Bask in his Glory before he basks in defeat. Keith Lee told Hobbs that he was going to give Hobbs a reality check, setting things up for the main event.

Powerhouse Hobbs vs Keith Lee

The match begins with Lee and Hobbs staring each other down while the crowd sings “Oh, bask in his glory”. They did multiple lock-up attempts, but neither could find an opening from the exchange. Hobbs got a side headlock on Lee before both collided with multiple shoulder block attempts before Lee pounced Hobbs out of the ring, with Lee taunting Hobbs. Both continued to brawl outside, with Hobbs sending lee to the ring post three times before pouncing Lee onto the barricade. Hobbs continued to send Lee to the post outside before sending him back to the ring. Hobbs hit a series of knees on Lee, including one for the near fall.

Returning from the picture in picture break, Hobbs had Lee on his knees before Lee punched Hobbs in the stomach. Lee hit a pair of over head chops on Hobbs, followed by a slap to the face of Hobbs. Lee hit a clothesline on Hobbs. Hobbs hit Lee with a Backdrop before doing a powerslam for the near fall. Starks ran to the ring with a chair and tried to hit Lee with a chair, but Lee punched the chair before Swerve Strickland came in to attack Starks. Hobbs hit the Spinebuster on Lee to pin him, but the referee was distracted, which led to Lee with the Ground Zero for the pinfall win.

After the match, Starks hit the Roeshambow on Swerve onto a table and Hobbs hit Lee with a chair shot. The angle ended with Hobbs spearing Lee onto another table, with Team Tazz standing tall.

Winner: Keith Lee
