Kevin Owens Recalls PCO Asking Him To Be The Referee For A ‘Man vs. Bear’ Match
Kevin Owens recalls being the insurance policy for a ‘Man vs. Bear’ match early in his career.
Appearing on a recent episode of Out of Character with Ryan Satin, the WWE Superstar shared a story in which PCO asked him to referee a match he was set to have with a bear. If anything went wrong and the bear wouldn’t take part, Owens was needed to ensure the people in attendance would still get their money’s worth.
“I was actually a referee, early in my career, for a man vs. bear match. PCO wrestled a bear once and he asked me to be a referee so if things went awry, I would be there to help him. Not against the bear. If things go wrong with the bear, we’re all screwed. What he meant was, what if the bear gets spooked and we don’t really know what to do and his trainer needs to bring him away because we need to save the show? Which is exactly what happened. The bear just wouldn’t take part in it, which I completely understand. Looking back, it’s not something that ever should have happened. Once the bear decided he wasn’t going to be part of it, the only thing we could do was the referee tell PCO that the match was thrown out, PCO gets upset, pulls out a chair, and assaults the referee like any sensible human would. That’s what we did to give the people their money’s worth. I didn’t end up getting near the bear because he wouldn’t come near the ring. Wise decision on his part,” Owens said.
Elsewhere during the interview, Owens discussed his decision to re-sign with WWE. You can read his comments here.
A couple of weeks ago on WWE Raw, Kevin Owens revealed his disdain for Texas, the home state of WrestleMania 38. Booker T recently told Owens not to mess with Texas, to which he responded by calling Booker a liar and wishing him a happy birthday. Click here to view their complete exchange.
Owens is currently aligned with Seth Rollins and will challenge for the Raw Tag Team Championships on the March 7 episode of WWE Raw against Alpha Academy (Otis & Chad Gable) and RK-Bro (Randy Orton & Riddle).
PCO, on the other hand, can be seen on IMPACT Wrestling as a member of Honor No More. He is set to face JONAH at Sacrifice on Saturday, March 5, 2022.
