AJ Lee Provides Update On WOW Filming Schedule
AJ Lee returned to the wrestling landscape in 2021 when it was announced that Lee had signed on with Women of Wrestling to serve as an executive producer and commentator.
Lee retired from the in-ring aspect of wrestling in 2015 and has since become a writer and advocate for mental health awareness and animal welfare.
Speaking to Freddie Prinze Jr on Wrestling With Freddie, Lee provided an update on WOW.
“We’ll actually be shooting pretty soon. I think we’re maybe 60 days out. It’s getting kind of close. We’re going to be in syndication in the fall of 2022. Please check WOWE.com for your local listings. We’re on the CW Seed app and Pluto app,” she said.
WOW is backed by Los Angeles Lakers President Jeanie Buss and David McLane.
Lee continued, explaining her decision to join WOW.
“What inspired me to join WOW was the idea that it was women behind the scenes in every capacity, in front of the camera in every capacity. To me, I love wrestling and I never stopped loving wrestling. This was the perfect way to rejoin the world of wrestling, but also combine with what I’m doing now and what I have a passion for now. I’ll be the executive producer alongside Jeanie and David McLane, which is mind-blowing,” she said. “When I talked to [Jeanie] on the phone, she really laid it out there what she wants this to be and what the vision is and also left a lot of space for what I want it to be and what I could bring to the table. I think that’s the right way to start something. We know that people know what the product is or what it was before, but this is a new beast. We’re really excited about that. it’s a great group of women and somewhere along the way, I got inspired to say, ‘I’m also going to do color commentary.'”
There is no exact premiere date given for WOW.
Elsewhere during the interview, Lee noted that there have been wrestling opportunities for her over the years, but explained why she hasn’t taken them. You can find her full comments by clicking here.
