Title Fight Pulled From Cage Warriors 82

The upcoming Cage Warriors 82 card will go on with one less title fight as lightweight champion Chris Fishgold has pulled out of a defense against Jani Salmi.

Fishgold suffered an unspecified injury and that is why he’s no longer competing at the event.

Cage Warriors officials made the announcement via Twitter:

There has been no word given by the promotion if Salmi will remain on the card against a late replacement opponent or if he will be pulled from the card as well.

Salmi (9-2-0) will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this fight and he will be doing so while on an eight fight winning streak. Salmi is also a longtime veteran of the Fight Night Finland promotion, where four of his nine pro MMA wins took place at. It has been over four years since the last time Salmi suffered a defeat, which came by way of unanimous decision to Kennett Mattsson at Cage MMA 21.

Cage Warriors 82 takes place on Saturday, April 1 from the Echo Arena Liverpool in Liverpool, England with Paddy Pimblett and Nad Narimani headlining. The main card will be airing live on UFC Fight Pass, Fightful will be proving live quick results coverage of the event.
