NXT North American Championship Match Set For NXT Vengeance Day 2022
The next challenger for the NXT North American Championship has been determined.
On the January 25 edition of NXT 2.0, Cameron Grimes and Tony D’Angelo faced off for the right to be the new #1 Contender to Hayes’ title. Both men made their intentions to challenge for the belt known last week, after which tonight’s match was booked.
Ahead of the bout, it was revealed that the winner would face Carmelo in a championship match at Vengeance Day on February 15.
Grimes and D’Angelo main evented NXT in a showdown that saw Pete Dunne influence the outcome when he hit Tony in the hand with a cricket bat while the referee was distracted. Grimes was able to hit his finishing move immediately afterward for the pin and win. He traded words with Carmelo and Trick Williams as he celebrated his victory.
