Cody Rhodes: At 40 Years Old, I Do Need To Start Slowing Down As A Wrestler

Cody Rhodes is near the top of AEW as the reigning AEW TNT Champion and continues to put his body on the line, most recently going through a flaming table in his street fight with Andrade El Idolo.

At the age of 36 and having wrestled professionally for over 15 years, Cody believes that he will start slowing down sooner rather than later.

“Five years from now…I would hope that I’m still rich,” Cody said with a smile when asked by Brandon Walker on Rasslin where he sees himself in five years.

Cody continued by saying, “At 40 years old, I do need to start slowing down as a wrestler. I know that offends a lot of other wrestlers, but I have been doing this since I was 15. I was a bad guy at WWE from 20 to 33, that’s a lot of falling down. I’m 36 going on 55 with how my body feels. 40, that’s when I might be slowing down. [Tony] Khan might have different plans and I’m going to go off what The Khan says. 40 seems like a good age to start peeling back. Get a movie here or there, come back in, people get mad that you show back up.”

Cody is already part of two reality shows — “Rhodes to the Top” and “Go Big Show” — along with being an Executive Vice President in AEW.

He is set to defend his AEW TNT Championship at AEW Battle of the Belts against Sammy Guevara.
