Cody Rhodes: We’re Not Doing What Has Been Done Before
Cody Rhodes made history at AEW Rampage Holiday Bash when he became the first-ever three-time champion AEW.
Rhodes won the AEW TNT Championship for a third time when he defeated Sammy Guevara.
At the end of Guevara’s latest vlog, Rhodes delivered a promo where he listed all the things he was thankful for in life. He mentioned his daughter, his wife, his family, his figure collection, and even Sammy.
“I’m thankful to Sammy. He said in an interview backstage that he would carry me, and he did. He did carry me for a moment, he had me on his shoulders in kind of like a torture rack position, turned it into a GTS maneuver, that’s his special thing, his big finish…and I kicked out. I am thankful to him for that,” he said.
Of course, he is also thankful for himself and his sacrifices, which included drinking Diet Coke while everyone else is eating and drinking gluttonously.
“I am thankful for me, for all the sacrifices I’ve made and all the hard work I’ve been doing since I was 15, having literally never taken a day off, nepotism my ass. I am thankful for those sacrifices that have put me in this position to have almost immeasurable wealth as a wrestler. Dumb wealth. NFL level wealth as a wrestler. I am thankful to that,” he said.
Cody closed by thanking all the fans and promising that they will be taken on a ride as his story in AEW continues.
“I’m just overall thankful for everything. I have no complaints. I am thankful to the fans that cheer me and I am thankful to the fans that boo me because both sets of fans are getting ready to go on a ride that is just bizarre and not the path that you think. We’re not doing what has been done before. I’m very thankful for all the things in my life,” he concluded.
Cody has been receiving a mixture of boos and cheers since he returned after seemingly retiring after a loss to Malakai Black at AEW Homecoming.
