Dante Martin: “I Don’t Think Anything Besides Wrestling Is More Physically Demanding Than Swimming”
Dante Martin explains how his time in the water has helped him in the ring.
One of AEW’s brightest young stars, Dante Martin has caught the attention of many with his innovative offense and breathtaking aerial displays. He recently appeared on ONE on ONE with Jon Alba and shared how he got so comfortable in the air.
“I did in the sense of when I was in high school I did diving. I was on the swim team from 8th grade through senior year. I did diving and that kind of broke the fear of being in the air and feeling a little more comfortable in the air. Since then it’s kind of played over into wrestling,” Martin said.
He continued on, adding how swimming has been integral in providing a base for his in-ring cardio.
“I think that my in-ring cardio, the base of it comes from swimming,” he said. “I don’t think anything, besides wrestling, is more physically demanding than swimming. So, I think, that’s been an amazing help to me in the sense of cardio.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Dante commented on the criticism high-flying wrestlers face today, and said that his main focus is making sure that the fans are happy. You can find his full remarks here.
On the November 24 episode of AEW Dynamite, Dante turned his back on Lio Rush, choosing to sign with Team Taz. Learn more here.
