Becky Lynch On AEW: “I Consider Them An Alternative. Their Product Is Different Than Our Product”
Becky Lynch tries to watch as much wrestling as she can.
Appearing as a guest on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, the WWE Raw Women’s Champion spoke about competition in wrestling and how it’s great because it not only drives creative, but it gives talent and fans more options.
“I watch everything,” Lynch said. “Competition is great. It’s great for the creative because I think it drives everybody. I think Vince works incredibly well when he’s pushed by competition and I think for the stars, it gives options. If you don’t like vanilla, you can go with chocolate. If you don’t like strawberry, you go with butterscotch. There’s options for everyone. For fans, for wrestlers.”
Asked specifically about All Elite Wrestling, The Man said that she considers them an alternative, noting that their product is different than that offered by the WWE. That said, she reiterated her belief about it being important to watch different shows if you want to keep your finger on the pulse of what’s happening.
“I consider them an alternative. Their product is different than our product. We offer a different product than they do. I think it’s important (to watch) because if you love this, you try to be in tune with everything that is happening. Then you know what people are doing or not doing. It’s one of those things where we’re all wrestlers and we all love the sport and sometimes we can come up with the same ideas at the same time. It’s important to know ‘is somebody doing this, is somebody doing that,’ how do I be different in this giant sea of content. There’s a lot of wrestling on TV right now,” she added.
With wrestling available for fans to watch every day of the week, Lynch doesn’t believe there is such a thing as too much. She concluded by saying the following:
“I don’t think like there is ever too much. You don’t say, ‘Well, there are too many police shows.’ If you like a police show, you watch police shows, and you love when there’s another police show. If you love it, you tune in. I think it can desensitize you to what good wrestling is because we see so much and there are so many good wrestlers out there. You can have a five-star match on Raw that gets lost by Tuesday because there is so much good wrestling on TV.”
Becky Lynch is set to face Charlotte Flair this Sunday, November 21 at WWE Survivor Series. You can view the full card by clicking here.
