Sasha Banks Was ‘Pissed Off’ Ronda Rousey Came In And Got More Money, Would Like A Rematch
Ronda Rousey’s run in WWE was short but memorable.
Rousey’s in-ring stint in WWE only lasted one year as she made her debut at WrestleMania 34 and last wrestled at WrestleMania 35. Her impact in that one year won’t be forgotten as she won the Raw Women’s Championship and had matches with the likes of Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and Sasha Banks.
Appearing on The Kurt Angle Show, Banks gave her thoughts on Rousey’s run in WWE.
“I can only speak for myself. There might be a little tension, I don’t know about real heat,” Banks said when asked about the WWE Four Horsewomen vs. MMA Four Horsewomen feud. “I was pissed off that Ronda Rousey could come in, get more money than me, get a (better) locker room than me, and bring all these people backstage and get more time than me. I’m like, ‘excuse me? who is you and what you do?’ Besides respecting everything she’s done in the UFC and the fight world, when it comes to the squared circle, that’s my home. That’s where I’m the legit boss, not Ronda Rousey. There could have been a lot of tension from the other three, I don’t know. I don’t even know why they call themselves the Four Horsewomen. ‘Thank you so much for being a fan, but that is our trademark,’ second, after Ric Flair.”
The WWE Four Horsewomen consists of Banks, Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Bayley while the MMA Four Horsewomen includes Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir. Though a bout between the two groups was teased, it never came to fruition and Baszler is the only active MMA Horsewoman remaining in WWE.
At Royal Rumble 2019, Rousey successfully defended her Raw Women’s Championship against Banks.
Banks said of the bout and a potential rematch, “I’m so down to working with Ronda again. I loved our match at Royal Rumble. To have a match with somebody that doesn’t have the professional wrestling background and was so new and fresh, I love challenges like that. She got it so quick because she did love it and was a fan and because over her fighting background, she knew how to take things and it flowed so easily and naturally. She was awesome to work with and I would love to have another match with her.”
Banks also praised Rousey and Kurt Angle for their performances against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 34.
It is unknown if or when Rousey will return to WWE.
