5 MMA Shows To Watch For The Weekend Of March 10 – March 12
We all know that the Ultimate Fighting Championships, Bellator MMA and World Series Of Fighting put on much watch events just about every weekend. However, there are a plethora of other MMA promotions out there who are putting on fantastic events that we should be focusing on. Every week, Fightful will be bringing to you five MMA events that every fan needs to be checking out, with full cards and broadcast information as well.
Legacy Fighting Alliance 6 (Friday, March 10) – Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio, Texas – Main Card airing 9pm EST. on AXS TV
Ever since the Legacy Fighting Championships merged with the Resurrection Fighting Alliance, MMA fans have been treated to some excellent shows. The sixth event from the LFA should be no different, with Brazil’s Rivaldo Junior and Texas’s Ray Rodriguez headlining the card. The other fight to watch will see Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu wizard Mackenzie Dern facing a former member of the United States Armed Forces in Katherine Roy. Other notables on the eight fight main card include Richard Odoms, William Hoffman, Eryk Anders and Jon Kirk.
One Championships: Warrior Kingdom (Saturday, March 11) – Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand – Entire Card airing 7:30am EST on iPPV
If you haven’t checked out a One Championships event before, then you need to set the alarm clock to wake you up early to check out a show. This particular event will be headlined by a bout for the women’s atomweight title as Angela Lee defends against Jenny Huang. There are a lot of developing MMA talents competing on the card, like undefeated fighters Pongsiri Mitsatif and Kelvin Ong. This promotion is run by Victor Cui and former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin is a part of the executive team as well.
Absolute Championships Berkut 54: Supersonic (Saturday, March 11) – Manchester Arena in Manchester, England – Entire Card airing 10am EST. on Fite TV and Youtube
ACB 54 may be one of the most loaded cards the promotion has put on, with UFC veteran Luke Barnatt faces Mamed Khalidov in the main event. Such notables as UFC veterans Ion Pascu, Robert Whiteford, Vinny Magalhaes, Pat Healy, Mike Wilkinson, Nam Phan and Davis Mitchell are on the card alongside Bellator MMA veteran Bubba Jenkins. There are a lot of other top notch international talents on the card as well, with best things being the card will be free on Youtube and Fite TV.
Fight Nights Global 61 (Saturday, March 11) – Ice Palace in Bryansk, Russia – Entire Card airing 11am EST on UFC Fight Pass
This Russian MMA promotion has been putting on great events for years now and their exposure has grown since coming to UFC Fight Pass. The main event of this show will be a welterweight division clash as Nikolay Aleksakhin faces Yasubey Enomoto. Also, former Bellator MMA Light Heavyweight Champion Emmanuel Newton faces Artur Astakhov in the co-main event. The only other fight announced at this point for the show is a middleweight division clash pitting Ayub Gimbatov against Georgi Lobjanidze.
Pancrase 285 (Sunday, March 12) – Differ Ariake in Tokyo, Japan – Main Card airing 1am EST on UFC Fight Pass
Pancrase was the promotion that was responsible for the rise of MMA, running events way before the UFC debuted in 1993. While Pancrase is no longer what it once was, they still put on some great shows that showcase the Japanese MMA talent pool. This event will be headlined by a pair of title bouts as UFC veteran Issei Tamura defends the featherweight strap against Nazareno Malegarie and Ryuichi Mike defends the flyweight title against Mamoru Yamaguchi. Also, UFC veterans Tateki Matsuda, Yuki Kondo and Masakatsu Ueda will be competing on the card as well.
