Danny Limelight Comments On His Run In AEW And Why He Believes The Company Trusted Him
Danny Limelight was a key contributor on AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation.
Between October 2020 and June 2021 the indie star wrestled 25 matches for AEW, all of which took place on their two YouTube series’. The only Dynamite appearance came at New Year’s Smash 2021 when he teamed up with the Varsity Blonds to take on Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers.
Joining ONE on ONE with Jon Alba, Limelight discussed his time in AEW and why the promotion trusted him to have big matches with the likes of Jungle Boy, Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston, and many others. Here is what he had to say:
“When I was at AEW, I was the go-to guy for big matches on Dark or Elevation. I was in the ring with Kenny Omega. I was in the ring with Jon Moxley. Konosuke Takeshita from DDT Pro. I was in the first-ever Elevation match with Jungle Boy. I was put in very serious matches, big matches, in my opinion. To me, they were big matches. Some people might have thought it was just Dark or Elevation, but to me, I was stepping into the ring with contenders for the championships, I was stepping into the ring with world champions, and I think I got to that point and I was put in those situations because I could deliver at any level with anybody.”
In September 2021, MLW announced that Rivera (Danny Limelight) had signed with the company. Rivera made his debut at MLW Battle Riot, joining Konnan in 5150. Fightful Select reported in July that Limelight had signed a multi-year deal with MLW.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp had the chance to speak with Danny Limelight earlier this year. That interview can be seen below.
