Marion Reneau Found Bethe Correia’s Insult To Be Funny
Marion Reneau will be battling fellow top 15 ranked female bantamweight star Bethe Correia this weekend at UFC Fight Night 106.
Correia previously called Reneau a “granny” and it’s a comment the 39-year old has found to be funny.
“I’m not following her. I’m not listening to her interviews; so if she has [trash talked] I haven’t heard it,” said Reneau to Bloody Elbow. “The only thing that I have heard that she said about me is that she called me a granny, which I think was kinda funny. She’s used the granny icon on a lot of her posts. So I started using those in my posts too, to kinda mimic and let her know that it doesn’t faze me. She’s only four years younger than me!”
It's worth noting that Correia is 33 years old herself. The female bantamweight competitor will also be fighting in Correia’s home country of Brazil andexpects a slugfest when she gets there.
“She comes forward a lot,” said Reneau. “She likes to be really aggressive coming forward, but we’ve rarely seen her on the ground.” Among Reneau’s wins are two submission victories, including a triangle choke versus Jessica Andradein 2015. Reneau hinted that Correia might have a hidden talent for grappling. She wouldn’t be drawn in on whether she saw it as a weakness worth exploiting come fight night. We’re looking for a fight. It’s gonna be a stand-up dog fight. That’s how I foresee it. I just foresee it as two individuals, who really like the stand-up game, who are going to collide in the center of the Octagon.”
UFC Fight Night 106 takes place on Saturday, March 11 from the Centro de Formacao Olimpica do Nordeste in Fortaleza, Brazil with Kelvin Gastelum and Vitor Belfort headlining. Fightful will be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
