Adam Cole: CM Punk Is At The Top Of My List In AEW

Adam Cole names his biggest dream matches in AEW.

CM Punk, Adam Cole, Bryan Danielson, and Ruby Soho all arrived in AEW in a short amount of time. Adam, as somebody who was the top guy on NXT, has often spoken about how difficult it was for him to make the decision to go to AEW. One of the helpful deciding factors was the amount of dream matches Adam could have in AEW.

Speaking with Dr. Chris Mueller of Bleacher Report, Adam Cole names young Superstar Darby Allin and a former opponent, Bryan Danielson, as two names he wants to face relatively soon.

“As far as the young guys go. Darby Allen is one,” Cole said. “I’d really like to get in there with MJF. He is incredibly talented, I’d love the chance to work with him someday. I do want to step in there with Bryan [Danielson] again. I’ve only wrestled Bryan in a singles match one time, and it was that last-minute SmackDown event, which is super memorable for me. So I’d love the chance to wrestle him again in AEW.”

In addition to wanting to relive one of the best nights of his career and test his skills against Darby Allin, Adam Cole wants to face one of his greatest inspirations in the industry, CM Punk. Previously, this was a moment that Adam did not think he would ever get to have.

So far, the closest Adam Cole has come to interacting with CM Punk on a professional wrestling program is playing air guitar during Cult of Personality when CM Punk returned to WWE Backstage in 2019.

“CM Punk is at the top of my list. I’ve been very open and honest about how much he influenced me in my career. He’s a guy who introduced me to Ring of Honor and independent wrestling as a whole. He was the guy who made me realize I really want to focus on promos. I never thought I’d get the chance to step into the ring with him.”

So far, Adam Cole is  undefeated in AEW, winning singles and tag bouts. Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite on Saturday.
