Darby Allin Says He Doesn’t Give A Shit About Becoming AEW World Champion, Wants The TNT Title Back
Darby Allin holds AEW’s TNT Championship in extremely high regard.
At Full Gear 2020, Darby Allin defeated Cody Rhodes to win the TNT Title; his first championship win as a member of the AEW roster. Over the next six months, Darby would successfully defend the TNT Championship nine times. He would eventually drop the belt to Miro on May 12, 2021, just one week after Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky threw him down a flight of stairs at Daily’s Place.
Appearing at an AEW panel at New York Comic Con, Allin stated that he had lots of fun in the match against Miro, but would love to have another run with the belt now that crowds are back in the stands. Furthermore, for as much as everyone would like to see him take a step towards the World Title, he insists that the TNT Championship is AEW’s most important prize and he wants to continue proving that.
“Out of all of those matches, I can say it was probably the one I lost to Miro. It was lots of fun, but it was during the pandemic, I was having the best matches of my career and long story short, I’d like to run that shit back in front of a live crowd. We’ll continue to show everybody why that championship is the most important championship in AEW. Everyone is like, “I can’t wait until you become World Heavyweight Champion.’ I don’t give a shit about that. Give me that TNT Championship,” Allin said.
Since his defeat to Miro, Darby has only lost two matches. The first was a handicap match against Men of the Year, and the other was a singles match against CM Punk at All Out. On the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite, he defeated The Nightmare Factory’s Nick Comoroto.
