Sami Zayn Says He Will Be A Benevolent Ruler And Anoint A Prince If He’s Crowned King Of The Ring
Sami Zayn promises to be a benevolent ruler if he wins WWE’s King of the Ring tournament.
On the October 8 edition of WWE SmackDown, the 2021 King of the Ring tournament got underway with two first-round matches. The opening bout saw Sami Zayn pick up the win over Rey Mysterio. The Master Strategist was able to capitalize on a distracted Mysterio, rolling him up for the victory.
Rey had asked his son Dominik to stay in the back, but after Rey took a nasty bump into the corner post, Dominik came out. Later in the match, Dominik tried to get involved but was stopped by his father. This brief interaction is what opened the door for Sami Zayn to advance to the second round.
Appearing on the latest episode of Talking Smack, Sami Zayn addressed what it would look like if he were to become King. He said the following:
“King Sami. I love hearing the words because it has a certain storybook quality to it. Doesn’t it? Somebody overcoming all of the obstacles. Somebody who’s constantly been oppressed and held down and cast aside at every opportunity. Drafted dead last in this year’s draft, mind you. Somebody overcoming everything put in their way and rising to power as King. [Laughs] King Sami.
Before I go further, let me address what I’m sure you’re afraid of, what I’m sure a lot of people are afraid of; as King, I will be a benevolent ruler. Megan [Morant], your job, totally safe, I promise you this. This whole camera crew, lighting, you’re laughing over there, don’t worry, laugh it up, you’ll be safe even though you’ve been rude to me. All of you have been so rude to me for so many years. I am a man of the people and I will make sure all of your paychecks still come in because that’s the kind of King that I will be. Okay?
In fact, I will be so benevolent that maybe I will even anoint a Prince. Yes, Prince Dominik Mysterio. Doesn’t that have a nice ring to it? Because we already know his father Rey has no chance of being King anymore since I beat him. But Dominik still has a chance at being royalty. So the first thing that I will do as King is I will free him from his authoritarian ruler. From his tyrant, his father, and I will set him free as King Sami.”
Sami Zayn will face Finn Balor in a second-round match next Friday night.
