Dana White Not Interested In Potential Henry Cejudo vs. Alexander Volkanovski Fight: “Listen, He Retired”
UFC President Dana White doesn’t seem all that interested in a potential Alexander Volkanovski vs. Henry Cejudo matchup.
White spoke with the media following the latest Dana White’s Contender Series event on Tuesday night and was asked about his thoughts on Cejudo’s recent campaign for a fight with the current UFC featherweight champion in Volkanovski. He responded with the following, seemingly not very open to the idea.
“Listen, he retired,” White said (h/t MMA Fighting). “You’ve been off all this time and now you want to come back and fight Volkanovski and jump the line and jump over Max and all these other guys that have been there? It’s a tough conversation.”
Cejudo, the 2008 Olympic gold medalist and former two-division UFC champion, hasn’t competed since May 2020 where he defeated former UFC bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz, via a second-round TKO at UFC 249. Volkanovski meanwhile hasn’t lost a bout since May 2013 and is coming off of a dominant title defense against Brian Ortega at UFC 266 where he bludgeoned the two-time UFC title challenger en route to a unanimous decision victory.
