Mirsad Bektic Says He Can Beat Any Featherweight
Mirsad Bektic will be taking on Darren Elkins this Saturday Night at UFC 209, a fifth win in the UFC is possible for Bektic if he can get past Elkins.
The UFC veteran is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter and he feels that he could beat any featherweight alive today.
“As far as can I beat them now? Yes, I can beat them now,” Bektic told MMA Junkie Radio. “But I’m getting better daily. I’m better today than I was yesterday. So I always have a mentality I can get better, I’m always open-minded, I listen to what people suggest to do and I try it and if it works for me, it works for me. If it doesn’t, I let it go and I keep getting better. When that time comes, I’m going to be better than I’m going to be Saturday night, and next year I’m going to be twice as good as, hopefully, I am this year. I believe you can’t just be stagnate.”
Bektic hasn’t competed since 2016 and that was a victory over Russell Doane. While he enters the fight with an undefeated streak and as the favorite, Bektic’s not taking anything for granted against Elkins.
“I haven’t even looked at the odds at all,” said Bektic. “I really don’t pay attention to those things. I just focus on myself and being the best that I can be and that’s what I’m focused on, going Saturday and just showcasing the best Mirsad possible.”
UFC 209 takes place on Saturday, March 4 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson headlining. Fightful will be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast as well.
