Fandango Says Road Dogg Was A Proponent Of The Breezango Pairing Behind The Scenes In WWE

Fandango says that he and Tyler Breeze had an ally behind the scenes in Road Dogg.

Long after Fadango’s major WrestleMania victory over Chris Jericho had come and gone, Fandango was still regularly making television cameos and backstage sketches with Tyler Breeze as Breezango. From their fun sketches as the Fashion Police to them hosting the WWE 50 Greatest Tag Teams countdown special on Peacock, Tyler Breeze, and Fandango were able to extend their careers in WWE and even become NXT Tag Team Champions.

Speaking on Felger & Massarotti, Fandango revealed that behind the scenes, Brian James (Road Dogg) was a big proponent of the tag team and Fandango believes that is because Road Dogg saw some of himself in the pairing as he was once a floundering singles competitor before being paired with Billy Gunn as part of the New Age Outlaws.

“Breeze and I, we weren’t really doing too much at the time on TV. So, I think they were actually making cuts, this was like 2015 or 2016, and I assume we were probably on the chopping block, and Vince didn’t think it was time to get rid of us quite yet. So what do you do and you got two floundering singles guys? You put them together,” said Fandango.

“Road Dogg was a big advocate for us because he was kind of the same situation back in his day where he was a singles guy, and they put him and Billy together. Obviously, they had a little bit better run than Breezango. But he helped us out a lot and gave us a little life to our careers there in WWE.”

Fandango and Tyler Breeze were released by WWE on Friday, June 25, 2021. Fandango recently popped up at a Limitless Wrestling event. You can check out the full results here.

In other recent interviews, Fandango has admitted that he believed his dancer gimmick was an idea that Vince McMahon came up with because he thought it was stupid that Chris Jericho did Dancing with the Stars. Learn more about that at this link.
