WWE Smackdown on FOX Results for 9/24/21 The Last Stop Before Extreme Rules
The WWE Intercontinental title is on the line on final edition of Smackdown before Extreme Rules!
Good evening Fight Fans, and welcome to our coverage for tonight’s go home edition of WWE Smackdown on FOX!
– We open tonight’s show with the entrance of the Smackdown Women’s champion Becky Lynch who gets on the mic and talks about her first title defense Sunday night at Extreme Rules since winning the title at Summerslam against the former champion Bianca Belair. Bianca then comes out and interrupts Becky before the two exchange words until Becky slaps Bianca and Bianca attacks Becky before hitting the KOD and leaving.
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
King Nakamura (c) (w/ Rick Boogs) vs Apollo Crews (w/ Commander Azeez)
Nakamura and Crews start the match off by exchanging strikes before Nakamura drops Crews repeatedly and hits Good Vibrations in the corner before Apollo turns Nakamura inside out with a clothesline. Apollo then hits a military press and tosses Nakamura over the top rope and down onto the floor as we go to commercial.
We come back from the break as Nakamura comes off of the top and Apollo knocks him out of the air before they exchange strikes and Apollo counters an exploder before Nakamura hits a diving knee for two. Nakamura and Apollo then exchange pin attempts until Nakamura pins Apollo for the win.
Winner: King Nakamura retains his Intercontinental championship by defeating Apollo Crews via pinfall.
– We get a backstage interview with Montez Ford of the Street Profits where he calls out Roman and The Bloodline.
– We go to the locker room where Roman and Paul are discussing Roman’s title defense this Sunday night against Finn Bälor as we go to commercial.
– We come back from the break to Sonya and Adam before Paul shows up and tells them to make a match between Roman and Montez before they agree to do it.
– We get a backstage promo by Seth Rollins towards Edge who talks about how Edge hasn’t responded to his request before mocking Edge and saying that he hurt him so bad that he may never be able to compete in the ring again. Seth then demands that Edge show up next week and do what he told him to or he’ll beat the words out of him.
Liv Morgan vs Zelina Vega (w/ Carmella)
Liv immediately hits Zelina with a shotgun dropkick before rolling her up for two before Zelina comes back and locks in a rear chin lock before Liv gets to her feet and drives Zelina into the corner. Liv then sends Zelina Dave first into the middle turnbuckle before Carmella distracts Liv and Zelina drops Liv with a boot before hitting a code red for the pin and the win.
Winner: Zelina Vega defeats Liv Morgan via pinfall.
– We go to the ring for the debut edition of Happy Talk with host Happy Corbin before he’s interrupted by Kevin Owens and Kevin is attacked by Riddick Moss.
Nikki A.S.H. (w/ Rhea Ripley) vs Natalya (w/ Tamina)
The two run the ropes before Nikki hits a head scissors into a dropkick for two before Natalya kicks Nikki in the midsection and slams her by her hair before stomping her down in the corner. Natalya hits a snap suplex for two before countering a tornado DDT and Tamina gets on the apron before Rhea rips her down and Natalya gets distracted before Nikki pins Natalya for the win.
Winner: Nikki A.S.H. defeats Natalya via pinfall.
– After the match Shotzi and Nox come out on their tank and shoot at Rhea and Nikki, but miss before the two sides yell at each other.
– In the locker room Rey Mysterio talks with his son Dominik Mysterio before Rey leaves and Sami Zayn shows up and gives Dominik some unsolicited advice.
– Naomi comes out to the ring and talks about how she’s not been able to have a match before she’s interrupted by Sonya who tells Naomi that she makes the matches before Naomi challenges her to a match. Sonya then cuts Naomi’s mic before security come out and escort her to the back.
– Backstage The Bloodline are coming out for Roman’s match before The Usos run into the Alpha Academy and the four face off.
Roman Reigns (w/ Paul Heyman & The Usos) vs Montez Ford
Montez locks in a headlock before Roman breaks free and drops Montez with a shoulder block before Montez dropkicks Roman out of the ring as we go to commercial.
We come back from the break to Roman in control before Montez comes back with strikes and rocks Roman with dropkicks and clotheslines him over the top rope and drives him into the barricade. Back in the ring Roman launches Montez into the air and sends him crashing down onto the mat before clotheslining him and Montez rolls out of the ring to regroup as we go to commercial.
Roman is still in control as we come back from the break before Montez hits an enzuigiri into a springboard cross body for two before hitting a blockbuster for two before Roman hits a uranage for two. Roman calls for a Superman punch before Montez counters into a DDT for two before Roman drops him with an uppercut and Roman rolls out of the ring before Montez hits a PK and sends Roman into the steps and back inside. Montez then goes for a frog splash before Roman gets his knees up and locks in a guillotine before Montez taps for the win.
Winner: Roman Reigns defeats Montez Ford via submission.
– After the match The Usos come out to the ring and Roman attacks Montez with a chair before Roman hits a uranage through a table. The Bloodline are then interrupted by Finn Bälor in his demonic body paint as Finn lays them out with a kendo stick and hits Roman with a chair before taking out Roman with a tope as we go off the air.
